Grippy, 2022-2023 Qualifier Robot
This is our robot Grippy for our Powerplay qualifiers. The robot features a rotating claw that can turn 180 degrees as well as a compact mecanum wheel drive train.
Tippy, 2021-2022 Regional Robot
This was our final robot for regionals. It’s a simple, but effective robot that’s also compact, so it can go through the barriers.
Bricky, 2021-2022 Qualifier Robot
This was the first robot we built for the 2021 Freight Frenzy game.
MTI Bot (Season of 2020-2021)
2020-2021 MTI Application Robot
A secondary robot for the 2020-2021 FTC Season, Ultimate Goal.
Again, using a mecanum wheel drive, MTI Bot uses a belt system for transferring motor power. Unlike previous designs, MTI Bot uses 3D-printed parts, namely a box for storing the battery, and a custom-designed wobble-goal gripper.
A surgical-tubing based intake system is used for ingesting rings, which are then loaded into the shooter.
PID Destroyer (Season of 2020-2021)
2020-2021 Season Robot
PID Destroyer is our robot for the 2020-2021 FTC Season, Ultimate Goal.
Like its predecessors, it features a mecanum wheel drive powered by quad 19.2:1 Yellow Jacket motors, managed by a three point odometry tracking system, capable of approximating the robot’s movements from its starting position. The wheels are powered using timing pulleys and belts inside of the drivetrain channels.
We incorporated a two stage surgical tubing and zip tie intaking system to bring the rings up an MDF board, and deposit them into a stack three tall. Our flywheel is powered off of two 1:1 Yellow Jacket motors using two runs of chain. Our flywheel is a 50A durometer AndyMark Stealth Wheel with added gears and screws to increase the inertia. Protecting the internal systems and electronics were two spray painted polycarbonate panels.
PID Destroyer was affectionately named by our programmer, after he had difficulty tuning the proportional-integral-derivative (PID) code.
Previous Season Robots
FairyTail 3.0 (Season of 2019-2020)
The third and finalized version of our robot for the 2019-2020 FTC season, Skystone.
Featured in Maryland state competitions, now with upgraded AndyMark Neverest 19.2-1 motors for maneuverability, replacing the Tetrix TorqueNADO 60-1 motors. The intake was given 2 more wheels for more fast and reliable block ingestion. The side-panels were replaced with Lexan-brand poly-carbonate sheets to protect it while on the field, sporting the team number in black characters.
FairyTail 2.0 (Season of 2019-2020)
This second iteration of our robot for the 2019-2020 FTC Season, Skystone.
Now featuring a single 5 stage linear slide (instead of dual 3 stage slides) to stack bricks, as well as 2 wheel intake for ingesting bricks to stack. The original plastic box was replaced with clear plastic side-panels, shielding sides not occupied by the intake and stacking mechanism.
FairyTail 1.0 (Season of 2019-2020)
The initial version of our robot for the 2019-2020 FTC Season, Skystone.
It featured a mecanum wheel drive powered by Tetrix TorqueNADO 60-1 motors, and a dual 3 stage linear slide to stack bricks, as well as a claw to manipulate bricks effectively. To protect the internals from the rigors of play, a plastic box was cut to shape as a chassis cover.
